Decatur Book Festival

Let's just say hot and sticky. Labor Day weekend definitely came early this year, so therefore the Decatur Book Festival also came early. It's still August so of course it's still going to be hot (and I mean it's the middle of summer in Georgia, hot). So it wasn't exactly the most pleasant experience having to be outside the whole time, mostly in the sun with the 94 degree weather.
While it was super hot, it was totally worth it to go. I wish I could have stayed longer and walked around some more, but I just couldn't handle the heat. It was super amazing any way. I was able to see 2 panels with some amazing authors: Stephanie Perkins, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Adi Alsaid, Isabel Gillies, Jennifer E. Smith, Adele Griffin, and Jennifer Mathieu. Then I was able to get my books signed by the authors.

The one downside (other than the heat) was the way that they ran the panels/signing lines. The panels were pretty much back to back with about 15 minutes in between. The signing lines were right after each panel. So if you happened to want to see 2 panels back to back, you couldn't also get your books signed. Or you would have to miss the panels all together and just get your books signed. I was lucky that my mom went with me and she stood in the lines to get my books signed for me. The only two authors that I actually got to meet were Jennifer E. Smith and Stephanie Perkins because of how these two events were held. (The Six is not included in this paragraph rant).

The Six by K.B. Hoyle was not being publicized on the Teen Stage. It is the first book in The Gateway Chronicles. K.B. Hoyle had her own tent and was there with her sister just promoting the series on her own. She described it as a mix between Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia. I was intrigued so I decided to pick the first book up. The sixth and final book in the series will be coming out soon.
