10 Book Related Problems

1. Figuring out what to read next - This is why I love monthly TBRs. I can choose from a smaller list of books rather than sitting in front of my bookshelf trying to figure out what to read next. (TBR shelf)
2. Mood Reading - I'm a major mood reader. I have to be in the mood to read a book or else I won't enjoy it at all. I've gotten to the start of a themed read-a-thon and just realized that I couldn't read any of the books that I planned to read because they weren't what I was feeling like reading.
3. Aversion to non-fiction - I know that a lot of non-fiction is really good, I just can't get myself to pick any up.
4. Reading Slumps - You know, when you just can't seem to get into anything you pick up and then end up watching the entirety of Friends on Netflix.
5. Not being able to leave a bookstore without a book - I literally can't resist buying books. And my bank account really doesn't like this habit.
6. Craving a romance - I tend to crave a romance in any book that I read. So, when I don't get one, I get really disappointed.
7. Binge-reading - I tend to binge-read. Not just an entire series, but I'll sit and read like 5 books within a fairly short amount of time and then I tire myself out and I don't want to read anymore.
8. Over-ambitious TBRs - I pick out a lot more books than is feasible for a month or a week and then I get disappointed when I don't finish it.
9. Auto-buys and cover-buys - Sometimes I really need to pay more attention to what the book is actually going to be about versus who wrote it or if it has a pretty cover.
10. Not finishing series - I have a problem with not finishing series. A lot of times it's because when I start the series, I read all the books that are out and then forget about the series and then end up with several books to read to finish the series and not remembering any of the previous books.

Top Ten Books that Were Hard for Me to Read:
1. A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuinn - This is an amazing book, but the way that it is written is very hard to read. I'm the type of person that likes to breeze through books, but this one wasn't like that. It took me a while to read because of the writing style.
2. Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor - I really don't know what it is about this book. I am about half-way through and have been for over a month now. For whatever reason, I just can't finish it.
3. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini - This is an amazing book (so far I'm only on page 60ish) but for whatever reason it took me forever to pick it up this month. It's the book that I'm reading with my family this month but I literally just picked it up. I think I was intimidated by it, and that's why it took me a while to actually pick it up and read.
4. Beowulf - Um... well... it's in middle English. 'nuff said
5. Savages by Joe Kane - The subject matter was really difficult for me when I was required to read it. I read it in 10th grade and I don't know if I was really ready to read something like this. My dad actually read it before I did and blocked out what he didn't want me to read.
6. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein - Okay, so I was actually listening to the audio book. But it was getting really hard for me to keep up and keep the characters straight and figure out what was happening. I think I'll try actually reading it first and then listening to it again.
7. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare - I was thoroughly pissed off by something that happened. I know that it changes later on I just got really pissed off and it's hard for me to keep reading the series.
8. The Old Man and the Sea by Earnest Hemingway - I became a vegetarian after reading like the first few chapters of this book because I was so disgusted.
9. Into the Wild by Jon Krakaure - This was just hard to read.
10. Anything that was assigned by a teacher ever. Something rebellious in me just didn't want to read anything that was assigned.

Top Ten Books I Want to Read But Don't Own Yet

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
There are several books that are on my list of MUST BUY ASAP. But these are some of the ones that I'm definitely most looking forward to. These are in no particular order.

Top Ten Tuesday! :)

Top ten books I'm not sure I want to read. All of these are books I actually own as well... oops.

1. The Tombs of Atuan by Ursula LeGuinn
I read A Wizard of Earthsea, the first in the series, in July and it was such a slow, hard read that I don't know if/when I'm going to want to pick this book up. I will feel bad if I don't make it through the next

2. The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin
Not quite sure why I bought this book in the first place? Was I in some sort of historical fiction mood but I never actually read the books that I bought?

3. All the Queen's Players by Jane Feather
Same as above. Why did I even buy this?

4. The Philosophy of Andy Warhol by Andy Warhol
I bought this last year at an art exhibit where Andy Warhol was featured, but I'm not sure if I'm actually going to get around to reading this one. It will probably be really interesting if I do, though.

5. Zero Regrets by Apolo Anton Ohno
I was in an obsessive faze when this originally came out. I currently have absolutely no inclination to read it.

6. Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz
I've actually started this book before, but I didn't get very far. I'm not sure why I didn't finish it, but I think I got intimidated by the fact that it was an adult book? Idk...

7. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
Never read Steinbeck but I'm definitely intimidated by classics.

8. How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez
Pretty sure I bought this at some sort of book fair at school several years ago. It sounds really interesting but I'm not sure if it's really my type of thing.

9. The Nots-So-Star-Spangled Life of Sunita Sen by Mitali Perkins
Same as above. Not quite sure about it.

10. Wicked series bind-up of Witch and Curse by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie
I've tried to start the first book in this bind-up several times. I don't know what it is but it just hasn't gripped me. Granted, I've never read more than a chapter of it, but it just didn't really seem all that interesting in that one chapter. It also confused me quite a bit, and I know that it's the first bind-up so it's not like I'm trying to start in the middle.
